I tried with the two way you proposed but nothing... to be honest i'm stuck on the pentalobe now, i can't open the bottom case thanks to that screw!! my pentalobe screwdriver make a hole in the rubber band so it becomes useless... i don't know what to do! I think i will use a dremel to cut to brake the pentalobe screw and then when i'm in i will make a cut on the torx one to use a cut screwdriver.

Again sorry for my bad english :)

Purchase a screw extractor bit. I had the SAME problem on a Mac and had to resolve it this way. The cost is under $10 and a little effort on your part.

@Shaggot96 Try nipping off the sharp tip of an exacto knife. Put in stripped hole and turn. If it slips trim a bit more of the exacto blade. It worked for me!!! Cool.

I had the exact same thing happen to me on a Mac. I used a screw extractor (about $5 from a local tool store). It worked great.

I hate those darn T5's and smaller screws.

Hey bro, what mm screw extractor did u use?

- de

DId you ever find out the extractor size?

- de

I don't remember the exact size but I bought a 3 pack of 3 different sizes. The small was only slightly larger than the T5. The bit is tapered so it fit the screw hole.

Use a 1.3mm flat head bit. Might have to give a small amount of force but it worked for me.

I had to use a Dremel to get the last three T5 screws out, file it down until you can use a flathead screwdriver.

Yes thank you! had same issue, small flat head did the trick Now where to get replacement 3.5mm Torx 5 screw ...

First try a different bit of the same size as your T5 bit is most likely stripped. If that does not work, this is the trick I sometimes use: take a rubber band and put it over the screw, then use a marker to indicate where the screw is under the band. Put the T5 bit into the marked off area and try to loosen the screw.

Try to put a small amount of superglue on the end of the screwdriver and carefully insert it into the screwhead. Allow it to sit for about 1 hour and then try to remove the screw.

First get a flat head screwdriver and give it a couple of taps with a hammer and see if you can undo it that way

If you are going to use the dremel just use it to cut a small grove in the head for a flat screwdriver instead of breaking the screw with it

I hate Apple. They have this garbage hardware dressed up in their software. I tried taking the screws out to replace the battery and they ALL stripped and now its garbage. Can't change the battery. And for the record, I am not some nit-wit that can't handle a screwdriver of any kind, I work on computers all the time. But this macbook pro t5 screws really screwed me. Bought a new SSD and RAM which where both easy to replace and then this battery screws me. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. I will never purchase another Apple product. I lie, I'll buy some Apple stuff. I got wrapped up in my emotions. Still though, cheap a__ __ T5 screws. My lenovo has better quality screws on it.
