iPod unable to turn on after replacing the click wheel
Hi all,
Since few weeks, I got a strange problem with my ipod (80G), I wasn't able to full it more than 18 Gigas, more or less. So as I read on internet, I wanted to fix this formating it with "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" in disk mode and as the play/pause button was unusable I bought a new one.
After replacing it, it doesn't turn on anymore, . When I plug it to the computer the sound plays but it isn't recognized and soon the "unpluged sound" plays.
Then iTunes starts from itself and I receive the following message:
"iPod software server could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes"
Also when I press menu + select button it makes it again.
Could it be the logic board that is damaged?
I already cleaned all the connectors with isopropyl alcool but nothing changed...
Thanks for your answers.

It appears as if your iPod is trying to connect for a restore of the firmware. Did all this happen after you reformated the drive?

No, I didn't format it, I was unable to do it because of my broken click wheel.

"and as the play/pause button was unusable I bought a new one." means you replaced the click wheel?

Yes, but as it didn't turn on I reinstalled the old one

I was afraid this happened because I bought the wrong one
