Water Damage and Data Recovery

Recently I dropped my iphone in the pool. I got it out and stuck it in rice. After a few days I tried starting it up and it kept looping at the apple logo.

I had basically given up on it until I replaced a new battery into the phone. All the sudden it booted up and I could see all my old data, apps etc. The problem is after about 30 seconds it turned itself off and I haven't been able to get it back since.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the data off here? All i'm after is the photos and don't have a backup of it.

Peter, rice is great for cooking but it will not stop corrosion nor will it fix your phone. Since it did have an immersion the first thing I suggest doing is to not longer try to turn it on or charge it. It is easily possible that you are shortening out parts on the logic board i.e. the power management IC. If anything, disassemble your phone using these guides. Once you have that done, clean your phone with high grade isopropyl alcohol and this guide. It was written for a 3g but all the points are valid for your phone as well. Once its clean, and you replaced the battery already, reassemble and re-evaluate for further (if any) damage. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hello. You can use a tool named iPhone Data Recovery from Tenorshare to recover the lost iPhone data. You can use it to recover the lost data directly from your iPhone. Here are detailed steps:

Step 1. Connect iPhone to PC & Select "Reccover Data from iOS Device"

First make sure your iPhone is switched on and connect it to PC with USB cable. Next launch iPhone Data Recovery on your PC. The program will detect your iPhone. You'll then get a pop-up window asking you to tap "Trust" on your iOS device to trust this computer.

Step 2. Start scanning iPhone for lost data

When the software detected your iPhone, it will show you the interface as follows. Click "Start Scan".

Step 3.Preview contacts, SMS, notes, photos, etc.

Now all scanned files are on the program listed according to category. You can choose to "Check all" or "Only display the deleted items" and then decide which to recover. To save time, you can just selectively recover those you need.

very unlikely that your software will work for "turned itself off and I haven't been able to get it back since." this.....you need to read the question before you spam, otherwise you are being found out quickly
