anyone try bypassing the power jack?

As we all know far too well, the power jack on older iBooks had/has an annoying habit of breakingloose from the logic board.

Repairing this is a big pain and expense

So... I was wondering if anyone's ever considered taking apart the slip-on battery pack and retrofitting a DC input jack to it? That way the power supply would

provide current through the interior battery connections.

Best results would be from replacing the original cells with some smaller ones, thus giving you both a functioning, if perhaps 1/2 capacity, battery operation, and also giving you room to hook upthe wiring.

Since the connection to the laptop would be "fixed" and latched in, there'd be far less risk of breaking.

I looked around and didn't see anything obvious.

ps: anyone know the type of fastener these packs use? It's got a screw head I've never seen anywhere else... looks a bit like a semi-circle (a letter "c") with a tooth sticking up and out of it.
