Distortion in sound when playing at any higher level

I've had this speaker for a few years now and i love it. I like to play my music quite loud and it sounded great it has recently been distorting the sound ( since my son borrowed it) I'm desperate to get this problem fixed but as yet have had no helpful answers to this problem. is it beyond repair? Is it something i would need specialist help with? or is it something i could manage myself?

It's probably a speaker cone. Older speakers cones dry out - playing at 11 can blow out (tear) the cones.

Opening and examining the cones will show if there's tears. If there are the only thing you can do is enlace the cone. Finding replacement cones could be a problem. Radio shack or an audio specialty store may have them, otherwise you'll have to replace the entire unit.

thanks so much for that, i have to admit though, that it sounds quite technical and im worried about causing any more damage so i think i will have to find someone who knows how to fix it. thanks for your input much appreciated

Yes is is an advanced repair… difficult to do a good job.

I know this is super old... but I used to hear a lot of distortion at high levels and I realized it was the led housing rattling in the metal black metal plate.

I put a piece of clear tape on it and that fixed it.

Kind of ugly, but it works

i have a problem in my ipod a1121..... power on. control is working good. but if try to plug a divice you can only hear is a load humming sounds.. can you help me about this problem? thank you so much
