How do I remove dust from under the screen?

This question is about the Motorola Droid.

There is dust/lint under/between the screens, which originated in the lower right hand corner of the device. It has begun to spread to the rest of the screen and makes viewing in the sunlight a pain. Is there a way to get this dust out?

A spraycan made things worse.

I had a similar problem with my Motorola Renew phone but was able to solve it without disassembling it. I slipped a pocket knife blade behind the screen on the top right corner and pried it open a little bit (2-3 mm), then set my air compressor output pressure to 90 PSI and sprayed out the dust with a high powered blast. I think you were on the right track with the spray can, but perhaps needed more air pressure to get the particles out. If you don't have access to a compressor (I have a simple 6 gallon pancake model from Sears), maybe you could stop by a local gas station or car repair shop (anywhere that mechanics use a lot of air tools) and see if they could help out.

+ but with a caveat... don't use the air compressor outside a gas station! Those suckers tend to have a ton of condensation and will spray mist randomly :)

You could try the Droid Front Panel removal guide. Then use a very soft or microfiber cloth to remove the dust.

Any lens cleaning or screen cleaning cloth should be the right type.

The only way to remove the dust is disassemble the phone

it's not easy, i searched a bit on google and found a youtube video showing the procedure.

to clean it, you need (latex/medical) gloves and some tools to clean camera lenses (search for Zeiss Portable Lens Care System - maybe you will find a similar set - i've chosen the zeiss set because it's easy to google it)

The biggest problem with dismantling it yourself is you will void the warrantee. You MIGHT be best taking it to a Motorola Service Centre and getting them to do it for you. IT will likely cost $20-$40. However the cost pales by comparison to the risk of damage and losing your warrantee on such an expensive phone.

I'm working on this problem too. <irritated sigh>

For prevention, there's apparently a whole range of dust/port plugs that you can buy or DIY.
