Why doesn't my screen work!?

ok, so i jumped into a pool with my phone.. jumped straight out and it was dead. i took the back off and accidently tore the battery ribbon. i had it submerged in rice for a couple of days until i got a new battery. i then installed the new battery and turned it on. i can hear the phone working, it makes the usual sounds and it vibrates except my screen had nothing. it was black, not white or grey. i have just got my new screen and installed that and i still have the same problem.. can anybody help??

shae, first off you do want to clean your phone. Rice makes for a great meal, but not to fix any device. It will remove some of the water marginally, but it will not prevent any corrosion. It is also a PITA to remove swollen rice grains out of audio jacks etc. Use this guide to disassemble your phone. Then use this one to properly clean your phone. It was written for a 3G but all the steps still apply to your phone as well. Once you got this accomplished, reassemble your phone and see what you got. If it still will not show a backlight, even after you cleaned it replaced the LCD and replaced the battery, it is possible that you need a new backlight IC and/or coil. This will require soldering very small parts onto the logic board.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure where you are located, but you might try a service to do it for you. Cheaper than a new phone....

Clean the backlit port at both ends: on logic board and of display/digitizer as well. If you have not ripped off the display/digitizer cable while assembling it. Good luck my friend.
