  • Just like that, the whole top cover assembly lifts away! This is a magical moment. We sigh in relief and put away the knife we had on hand to cut this thing open.

  • As a bonus, the cover is tethered by a single flex cable with plenty of slack ... and the connector at the end is secured with a magnet instead of those fussy clip-on brackets that we always ruin. Very slick.

  • With the top case flipped over, behold ... magnets. Magnets! No wonder Panos was able to yank this thing off so easily on stage.

  • He did say to not try that at home. Good thing we're at work!

  • The battery connector doesn't look accessible, which is a recurring theme with Surface devices. However, we find what may be a tiny battery icon on the main board near the top cover connector socket. Perhaps jumping these two pins would safely de-energize the board?

De hele bovenkant gaat er gewoon zo van af! Dit is een magisch moment. We slaken een zucht van opluchting en leggen het mes weg dat we al bij de hand hadden om dit ding te open te snijden.

En als bonus zit de bovenkant alleen maar vast met één flexibele kabel die genoeg speling heeft... én waarvan de aansluiting enkel met een magneetje vast zit in plaats van die rare klikaansluitingen die we altijd stuk maken. Heel mooi dit.

Met de bovenkant van de behuizing omgedraaid, zie hier ... magneten. Magneten! Geen wonder dat Panos zomaar de bovenkant eraf trok op het podium.

Wel zei hij dat je dit niet thuis moet proberen. Goed dat we op het werk zijn!

De batterijaansluiting ziet er niet erg toegankelijk uit, wat een terugkerend thema is bij Surface-apparaten. Daarentegen vinden we wat lijkt op een klein batterij-icoontje vlakbij het contact van de aansluiting van de bovenste behuizing. Wellicht dat het verbinden van deze twee pinnetjes het bord op veilige wijze ontlaadt?
