If you are running low on storage space or your hard drive has failed, it is likely time to replace it. Replacing your hard drive (Latitude E7440 base models contain SSHDs) with a faster SSD will greatly improve the overall speed of your device as well. This guide will outline the steps on how to replace your drive.
Qué necesitas
-
-
Power off your laptop before starting.
-
Flip the device over so that the vents on the bottom are facing away from you.
-
-
-
Place your finger on the latch located in the center of the laptop.
-
Slide the latch to the right, applying enough force to reveal a red indicator.
-
-
-
-
Remove two M2 x 3mm Phillips #0 screws from the base cover.
-
Slide the service tray using the middle stand offs to then be able to lift the tray off.
It is very important to add pictures from the cmos battery instructions on ifixit for this laptop before Step 5, as it gives the very important instruction to SLIDE DOWN the unscrewed cover towards the battery. I nearly damaged it by trying to pop it off before thinking to look at a different set of instructions to make sure I wasn’t going to break the back panel.
Thank you so much for this comment. I was doing the same thing trying to unsuccessfully pull off the cover but then saw that there was a comment. If somebody who holds themself out to be knowledgeable does not bother to go step by step it can cause a problem. Thanks again.

Disconnect the hard drive connector from the top of the drive.
What is the max thickness for the SSD? Thanks.
If you are going to bother to show how to remove the HD you should do it with an HD installed.
Mine has one, but it’s also a poor candidate to show how not having anything but the drive cable.
