== Identificación y antecedentes ==

El Apple IIc se desarrolló como la primera versión de Apple del  ordenador portátil; la c en IIc significa compacto. Fue diseñado para ser comercializable para usuarios nuevos que no tenían experiencia técnica o informática. Aunque el  ordenador en sí era bastante portátil, pasaron algunos años antes de que el monitor y otros equipos pudieran moverse con la misma facilidad.

El Apple IIc se identifica fácilmente por el IIc marcado en la esquina superior derecha del dispositivo y el mando de volumen en la parte inferior izquierda del  ordenador. Sus sucesores tendrían un modelo diferente en la lista y sin mando de volumen.
