How to fix monitor/lcd on Sony RX10M3

The monitor/lcd on my Sony RX10M3 no longer works. It will brighten slightly when the camera is turned on, but it will not display anything. The viewfinder works fine. No error msg. I have tried all suggestions from Sony. How do I fix or replace the monitor?

Hi @drefson ,

Are you sure that the LCD screen is the problem?

Looking online for LCD screen parts for your camera I came across a listing for a LCD display screen driver pcb as well. So you might have to prove whether it is the LCD screen or the driver board that is the cause of the problem before ordering the appropriate replacement part

The lcd screen is available online, although there are not many suppliers..

Just search for Sony RX10M3 lcd screen part to get results for suppliers of the part.

Here’s a link to just one supplier. It is not a recommendation to use them. It is only shown to give an idea of the cost of the part.

Hopefully this is of some help.

How can I test the screen driver pcb to see if it is the problem? When I switch to the viewfinder, it displays pictures, menus, and the view through the lens normally. I hooked the camera to a TV using the HDMI port, and I switched to the monitor only view mode. Everything that I should have been able to see on the monitor displayed correctly on the TV. Does this indicate that the screen driver pcb is working properly?

Hi @drefson ,

The only way I know how to test the driver board would be to try another known working LCD display unit (which I know doesn't help you).

It may be that the evf (electronic viewfinder) is fed from the same board but again that doesn't prove that the entire board is OK.

You could always ask a supplier in the link for the monitor unit what they think is the more likely problem and if they will accept a return if the problem does turn out to be the driver board. It never hurts to ask. ;-)

Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
