What is the function of the Airport card connector cables?

I've been trying to fix the "WiFi: Hardware not found" issue on my 2012 Macbook Pro, but nothing I've done has worked thus far. I've tried installing a new Airport card, but that hasn't worked either.

However, the Bluetooth on my device still works, so I'm starting to think that it's a problem with the cables. I've heard that replacing the wifi/bluetooth data adapter will solve the issue, but I want to make sure. Does anyone know what the cables highlighted in red do?

Those are antenna cables, it is not related to "Hardware not found" error. As long as the wifi card and main ribbon cable/motherboard circuits are intact, you should see wifi hardware recognized by the system. Antenna cables are only involved when you have poor wifi signal. It's like when your engine won't start but you are checking the tires.

Thanks. Do you think replacing the main ribbon cable will solve the problem?

You can try, at least you can confirm the problem is with the cable or not.

Yes, I would replace the cable! Here's the IFIXIT guide to follow and the part info: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 AirPort/Bluetooth Cable Replacement
