Sólo responde a voces profundas

So, cannot source broken paw motors assemblies, short of buying a complete dog for parts… any other options?
blue - Contestar
So, found small gears to fit the paw motors, Chip now works 100%, symptom was motors turning but no movement, twisting the wheels by hand heard a clicking sound rather than a smooth whirr. 10 tooth .5 mm gear.

Hi Blue,
Can I have your email? I have similar issue

Hi blue, would be great of you could provide some more information on fixing the paw motor. Having the same problem and look for a solution. If you have pictures or a video, this would be amazing.

Does not charge on bed or directly, now what
Linda Marion - Contestar
If the blue light does not blink on the bed when you plug it in, the charger is not working. Sometimes the cable next to the connector gets a broken wire in it… gently, slowly move the wire around the connector while plugged in to see if a certain position can get th e light blinking… if the light blinks and it still won;t change, the batteries in the dog may be wearing out… find an electronics person to rebuild the battery pack, or buy new if available,…

I was playing with chip when I told him to do yoga and he doesn't do it he just lays down moves his legs up and down while he's laying down and makes two barks and then he moves forwards but only the two front wheels move not the back and then it just stays there
Bella Roso - Contestar
This does sound similar to what it is supposed to do, but the barking and sitting there do not. It likely did not fall over like it was supposed to. Running the front two wheels is done to get it back up. The legs move to simulate yoga. It seems to have skipped the first part.
Michael Deitz -
It sounds like the legs jammed up. You could try this guide I made in an attempt to help.
Michael Deitz -
How come the guide says forbidden??

How do you update Chip? I have tried charging him directly next to the off/on switch, won’t work.
Hanna Szkubel - Contestar
If no charge directly, could be
(1) broke charger, find a volt meter (harbor freight GIVES them away with a coupon and ANY purchase), check the output of the charger, is OK if greater than 6 volts
(2) bad chip battery - this is tough, remove the battery and check the voltage, if greater than 6 volts is ok, and ok means that chips internal charging circuit is broke - R.I.P. CHIP, if battery measures bad, then get an electronics person to rebuild the battery pack (Geek squad? local computer repair?)
blue -
Thanks! I’ll try it out!
Hanna Szkubel - Contestar
OOPS!!!! It was unplugged the whole time!
Hanna Szkubel - Contestar
Yeah, that would be a problem, LOL!

Could you help me specify the gears exactly?
Hind Leg gears.
Paw gears.
In my case the hind leg and 3 paws are not functioning properly. I can hear the motor but it does not move
Ranjan Batra - Contestar
So...mine had the same issue and I sent them to robot doctor on ebay. He fixed them both and they work great :). Check him out. It's 30.00 for repair but you have to pay for the shipping. I had two sent for 50...but for one it would probably be 25.
Faith Prevails -
If the paw motors will not move CHIP and you can hear them, the gear connecting the motor to the wheel is probably broken. With a lot of careful dis-assembly, you can expose the motor with the bad gear, it will have a dark line at the bottom of one of the teeth, that is a crack not allowing a tight fit of the gear to the motor. Search on ebay for ‘2mm Aperture Plastic DIY Model 8 Teeth Spur Gear 5mm x 5mm’. I bought those gears and they replaced the defective gears in my CHIP perfectly…
blue - Contestar
I NEED HELP PLEASE…so my chip cant move properly for example when i tell him to ‘come here’ he responds and i know that because i can hear sounds of movement but doesnt move….i am confused because when i give him a push he works but not completely and when i lift him off the ground i can see that all of the paws are moving perfectly….another problem is that his eye color blinks sometimes or for example when his eyes are supposed to be blue they will all be blue except or one part will be red….also when i turn on the ball it blinks in yellow but then turns red and does not work at all…..and chip does not follow me anymore when asked to by the watch he just does a ‘confused sound’ and does not follow at all…..i love my chip so much but i need answers soooon
Dana Almalik - Contestar
Here are my solutions to these issues: For the first, try making sure the wheels are attached tightly, and that no objects are trapped within. Otherwise, gears may need replacement. For the second, try tapping the LEDs, rebooting the CHiP, or getting it to change eye color (e.g. activating soccer mode or using the voice trigger). For the third problem, try replacing the batteries, and see if this works. For the last problem, it may be helpful to get a more descriptive onomatopoeia. Does it *bark*? This may help me know what is going on better. You’re welcome if this fixes anything!
Michael Deitz -
For the ball, I’ve tried changing the batteries but that didn’t work either. What I meant by “confused sound” is the same sound that he makes when you tell him to “fetch” without having the ball turned on. I want to ask you what do you mean by “rebooting the Chip”. Also how do I know if the wheels are secured well and if there’s something stuck in the wheels. And how do I replace the gears? Also, I’ve tried fixing my Chip’s moving problem by trying out the “leg calibration” in the app but chip keeps barking non stop and when I press the arrows nothing happens to the legs, they don’t even move. The moving problem also might be because of what I think isn’t loose front legs. When I lift chip up and move him side to side, his front legs wiggle. Help me please
Dana Almalik -
We have now our third Chip, every time there was a new problem. Now we have a dog who is whining a lot. Why? Also he doesn’t respond very good. We think the last update isn’t good. What can we do about it?

Hi -
Problem:
- Chip (01304) software update (current version is V0.29+BL0.9) got stuck during the process and lights went off/never turned on.
- Mobile app (App Version 1.0.34) is able to see Chip (shows 0% charge), Ball (100%), Band (100%), Charging bed (light is lit/shows on the app as well).
- Chip is not charging neither through port on chip nor bed - still shows 0% and won’t turn on.
What else can we try?
Thank you!
Emily - Contestar
You may try replacing the memory unit as the CHiP may have overwritten its current data with corrupted update data. This may have been due to a weak connection to the Internet. If this does not solve the issue, I do not know what to do. A similar update problem happened with mine, but with a different occurrence: CHiP barks twice when entering power save mode instead of a normal one time.
Michael Deitz -
I read up on this issue, and it is likely that your CHiP is stuck in “DFU Mode“. Try the actions shown on this website:

Waleed Ajmal -
The comment I made 23 hours prior to this reply may help you determine the problem with your CHiP. Also, try powering your CHiP off for some time, and turning it back on. If this does not solve the issue, charging your CHiP may do so, though I cannot be certain this will fix the problem.

Chip smartwatch blinking fast purple rather then just blinking slow and not turning on to blue color, can you buy replacement batteries or can any other smartwatch work on chip robot.
mark.norris2016 - Contestar
I am having the same problem right out of the box but I noticed the smart band has a small burn mark and a scratch. I think we got a returned item from Best Buy.
Jamie Tooze -
Some people have experienced their CHiP’s head turning until it repeatedly clicks. This is likely due to a damaged, disconnected, or loose potentiometer in CHiP’s head. Also, if you manage to power the dog on and off in such a way that it puts the system in a near-crashed state, it will turn its head until it clicks about five or six times and then think it has run out of power and require powering off for about 15 seconds to properly reboot. This may have also been a result of a poor, poorly connected, or miscalibrated battery sensor.

Chip would not charge on bed and is not charging through the port either. He is dead. Any suggestions??

Hi, i purchased a chip dog for my 9 year old.. she's in love with it but from the moment we purchased it, the snartwatxh will not charge, only flashes purple while on the charging port and after 6 hours of “ charging" is still dead… is this a common thing and can spare watches be purchased or repaired? We also found that the voice commands were terrible, it recognises the “ hey chip" with a little bark and green eyes, but then completely ignores the command.. ant ideas? Thank you so much

Anyone knows the instructions to reset or calibrate the unit? In the manual, there is no instruction on calibration or reset.
There is no option to calibrate unit in the the Google app (as directed above). Has anyone done this before?
It is nice for students to build this Wiki, but did anyone from WowWee actually review it?
Dada Kwadwo - Contestar
The version of the app on the Google Play Store is not the latest version, earlier than the manual’s version, actually. I do not know how to get the latest version to download, actually. I can only tell you why the calibration function is not available.

Also, it would be nice if you can find a fix for a CHiP being unable to locate the SmartBed. I left a question here:
Why is my CHiP unable to find the SmartBed?

My chip does not turn and move sideways properly.
Any solutions on how to fix this?
Everything else works fine he just won't move sideways or turn around. The motors spin and the wheels spin when he is not on the ground, but the moment I place him on the ground he stops moving all together. If anyone can help I would appreciate it!
If you'd like to help I can send videos of the problem.
Butterflies Galore - Contestar
This is a design problem with the paw motors that lots of folks experience, one that Wowee will not help you with. There is a gear connecting the paw motors to the paw wheels that breaks. It can be replaced, just is a little tedious. I am thinking of making a youtube video of the repair process if time permits.
blue -
Yeah that'd be helpful because i haven't been able to play with him since i got him. If you could help sometime I'd appreciate it. I can give you my email to communicate better about it if yiu’d be willing. Cause I'd like to to get him fixed.
Butterflies Galore - Contestar
If an LED goes out or malfunctions on your CHiP, try getting it to change eye color, and see if it reverts. Then, try tapping and/or smacking the LED which is not working right. If this doesn’t work, you may have to open the head and replace the damaged/ malfunctioning LED board.

Hello so I’ve posted a comment with the problems I’m having with my Chip here’s on this website back in July 2019 and I saw your reply and you asked me to give you more information so….for the ball, I’ve tried changing the batteries but that didn’t work . And what I meant by “confused sound” is the same sound that he makes when you tell him to “fetch” without having the ball turned on. Also I want to ask you what do you mean by “rebooting the Chip”. And how do I know if the wheels are secured well and if there’s something stuck in the wheels. And how do I replace the wheel’s gears? I also want to ask you about the leg calibration in the app because it isn’t doing anything when I press the arrows. I thought doing the calibration might fix Chip’s movement problem but Thebes calibration isn’t even working.
this is what I said a year ago and I still have the same problems: I NEED HELP PLEASE…so my chip cant move properly for example when i tell him to ‘come here’ he responds and i know that because i can hear sounds of movement but doesnt move….i am confused because when i give him a push he works but not completely and when i lift him off the ground i can see that all of the paws are moving perfectly….another problem is that his eye color blinks sometimes or for example when his eyes are supposed to be blue they will all be blue except or one part will be red….also when i turn on the ball it blinks in yellow but then turns red and does not work at all…..and chip does not follow me anymore when asked to by the watch he just does a ‘confused sound’ and does not follow at all…..i love my chip so much but i need answers soooon

I was wondering if you ever got the answers? I just bought this and it is doing the same thing yours is. And that was a lot of money I spent on my daughter birthday gift. Please help??

Sorry about taking WAY too long to give a reply. From what I hear, the CHiP thinks you are trying to get it to do a command that is invalid because not all of the necessary accessories are connected. I don’t know what would be wrong with the SmartBall, but telling me where the issue began could help, and by “rebooting the CHiP“, I meant restarting it using the power switch. Try removing the wheels by twisting the front grey cover left, which displays a red color on the lock, and the wheel falls off. You can then remove dust or debris as necessary, and secure it by turning the cover to the right, making it display a green color. It does sound like the wheel’s propulsive parts are weak and struggle to turn the wheel on surfaces. You would need to open the wheel after removing it to replace the gear. I also heard from others that the app’s calibration function does not work most of the time when there is a problem.

I found problem to the CHIP When we instructs CHIP to move, then the motor in the wheel are sound moving, but CHIP is not able to moving forward, reverse or side by side. When we hang the CHIP, and give moving instruction, all of the motors are able to move properly, but when we put CHIP in the floor, seems have no enough torque power to make CHIP moving, How to solve the issue..?

Thanks for your answer, Ian. As my CHIP is really a new one, and just unboxing, Is there any possibility that the above described movement issue, is related to the Firmware version which is need to be upgraded?
Satriyo Dharmanto - Contestar
Hi again. If ist is a new one it might be a different issue. My issue was really cause by long use of the gears. I would install all updates and check again. If it persists I would return it to the seller.
lan -
Hi Ian, thank for your swift response. One more question, based on your experiences, is there any relation between Firmware Update and wheel/gear movement issues? Is there any possibility that miss match of Firmware and APP will cause the motor/gear has no enough torque force?
Satriyo Dharmanto - Contestar
Hi Satriyo Dharmanto, I am not aware of such relations. Which of course is far from a prove it doesn’t exist… At least in theory it is possible that a mismatch causes troubles and making sure you have the latest versions installed is surely recommendable.

I have bought 2 smartwatches and neither one of them will turn one.
shawnapatt11 - Contestar
My best guess is that the batteries are dead since two watches have the same problem. Try plugging them in. If the light flashes red, then this is the case. If you wait a minute or two, it should begin flashing purple to indicate charging. When done, it should remain purple without flashing.
Michael Deitz -
My WowWee CHiP has been SMASHED. The front and hind legs are floppy to the point that gravity can rotate them. The right rubber ear has been severed from the plastic base. The left eye sometimes dims quite a bit. A part of the right eye also dims occasionally, but much less frequently. The rear motors make an unpleasant grinding sound when they move. When CHiP attempts to rise, the hind legs buckle with a loud *click*. CHiP can only find the SmartBall when placed directly on the magnet, and nothing else. And last, the speaker has dramatically decreased in volume without adjusting the volume control. Repairing the device would be next to impossible and incredibly costly.

Our chip unable to charge at all. With the smartbed or with cable. The devices see chip. The app, too. But the energy level is 0%. And we can’t charge it.
Alexandra Zherdeva - Contestar
Check the output of the charger cable with a voltmeter. Sometimes a hard reset will clear some electronic issues. Unscrew the battery cover under ship, then disconnect the battery. If you have a voltmeter it would be helpful to measure the battery voltage. Wait maybe a minute then plug it back in, cross your fingers…

Thx for the advice. Can you help us to recognise the correct meaning of battery voltage and the output of the cable voltage? Saw here above that it should be higher then 6 volt. As I know the chips (micro scheme) are working with 5V

Replaced all 4 cogs on paws. Required stripping down to get access. 1st remove battery, 2nd 6 screws connect bottom half of Chip to top. Remove all 6 and chip separates. 2 are under the battery. Disconnect 3 connecters that join upper part to lower once all 6 screws out and you have access. Next, disconnect very carefully all connectors to circuit board. Then undo the 2 screws to remove circuit board. You then see an arch held with 2 screws over each leg shoulder. Remove each arch noting the position for installation later. Next, the drive motor is attached with 3 screws for front legs and 3 for back. Unscrew and remove. Now you have all 4 legs to disassemble and replace the cogs. I bought my cogs on Ali express.

My chip has not been used in years. He needs an update but is too low to update. I put the ax adapter into his chest but he isn’t showing any colors on his eyes at all indicating that he’s charging. I don’t know what to do. He won’t respond to his bed and I don’t think he’s responding to the adapter. He lights up in all sorts of colors and then when I put the adapter in the colors disappear and it’s like he’s dead. I take him off and his eyes work again. He barely moves because he needs an update really bad. When I have his charger plugged in it turns purple and so do his eyes. So I know it knows it needs to charge it’s just so outdated. I have the app but it won’t let me do anything at all, I can’t even recalibrate because every time I click his name, it shows me an update screen. My only option is to press update and then it prompts me that he’s too low on charge. It won’t let me leave the update loop. I don’t know what to do now.
