Sony BDP-BX620 Troubleshooting
My device does not work
Many issues can be corrected simply by rebooting the device. To reboot, turn off and disconnect all devices, and then connect them again and turn on your devices. If rebooting the device does not work, or if there is a more specific problem with your device, refer to the troubleshooting options below.
My device is not turning on
My device is not responding when powered on, what do I do?
Device Not Connecting
Make sure the device is securely connected and has power. When you check, make sure the power cable is not loose or partially unattached, or the device will not power on. If it was disconnected or loose, once you connect it properly it should function as intended.
Damaged Power Cord
If the power cord is properly connected and the device still does not turn on, inspect the power cord to ensure it is not damaged. Often times, cables will become damaged due to wear and tear. If this is the case, you might have to replace the wire.
My device is not connecting to the internet
My device turns on, but does not connect to my wireless internet, what do I do?
Wi-Fi Password Problems
Make sure the password encryption level is adequate for the device. If your Wi-Fi password encryption level is too high, the device may not be able to connect. A safe connection is the WEP password encryption. Also, make sure you have completed any steps necessary to register your device to your internet provider if applicable.
Not Receiving Wi-Fi Signal
If the device is too far, or to close from the Wi-Fi source, there might be a problem of weak or insufficient signal strength. Placing the device within the range of your specified modem or router will help ensure optimal signal strength. An alternative to moving your device is moving your modem closer to the device.
Faulty Ethernet Cable
Another frequent issue is improper connection of the Ethernet cable. Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected between the device and the source. Make sure the Ethernet cable is not damaged. If connection issues persist, consider replacing the Ethernet cable.
Some internet connections have NAT type restrictions on their signals. This setting can be changed on the modem or by contacting your internet provider. Check your network settings and ensure they are appropriate for your device. Generally speaking, NAT type 1 has the least restrictions, and will work best with most devices.
My device powers on, but cannot read discs
What should I do when my device is not reading discs?
Check the disc for anything that might be preventing it from being read. There could be scratches, dust buildup, or grease marks. To fix this problem, you could try cleaning the disc with alcohol and a smooth towel. If this does not work, the disc might be too damaged to be read.
Faulty Optical Disc Drive
In extreme cases the device may not be able to read the disc because of the optical disc drive. The lens of the optical disc driver might be dirty. Use a lens cleaning disc kit to help remove any dirt. You might need to service or replace the driver if issue persist.
My device is having issues with the USB
I connect my USB to the device, but it does not work. What should I do?
USB Not Connecting
Ensure that the USB is properly connected. If you force the USB in the wrong way it could cause permanent damage. Connecting the USB should at most give slight resistance. If you are needing to use significant force to connect the USB, it is probably not going in the right way.
Check if the USB device or cable is damaged. A bend in the USB port, cable, or device may lead to reading issues. You can try plugging in the USB to another device to see if it works properly. When using USB devices that need power, the power source for the USB may be damaged. You can try plugging in the device into another wall outlet.
I am having issues with my picture and sound Quality
What do I do when the picture and sound is not coming out as it should?
Can't Connect HDMI Cable
The sound and picture cable in the device is the HDMI. Make sure that the cable is connected properly. Forcing the cable in can result in damage to connector. Also, the HDMI has the same end in the input and output, so make sure both ends are properly connected to each device.
Faulty HDMI Cable
A broken or faulty HDMI cable or connector will effect the image resolution. To determine if there is a HDMI cable or connector malfunction, try using different HDMI cables on the same device or trying the same HDMI cable in multiple devices. If the cable works with other devices, the problem is the HDMI connector, or if another cable works on the BlueRay player then the problem is the cable itself.
