Samsung NP550P5C-T01US Troubleshooting
Common troubleshooting solutions to check before you need to any Hardware Replacements on you device.
The Screen Won’t Turn On
The screen is blank or black when the laptop is powered on.
Faulty power adapter
If the Samsung NP550P5C-T01US is not on then connect the charger to the Samsung NP550P5C-T01US and let it charge for a few minutes. If the Samsung NP550P5C-T01US is still not turning on then make sure the charger is fully connected to the device. It could also be the charger that is the problem, so make sure it is working by connecting the charger to another computer. If it is fully connected and the charger does work, then it might be a battery issue.
Exhausted battery
If so then it is recommended to check the battery is working by switching the battery to another microcomputer. If the battery does work on the other microcomputer then the problem will be the CPU Fan on the original device which would need a CPU Fan Replacement. If the battery does not work on the other microcomputer then the issue is the battery.
Hard Drive files and programs corrupted
When you try to open a file it marks it as a corrupted file and won't open.
Sudden power loss
If your files don't want to open up it could be caused from a blackout when it was connected to an outlet that short-circuited your drive corrupting any unsaved or currently opened files. Another possible cause for file corruption is disconnecting the system during the boot-up process or during a file download, and in extreme circumstances, you could have downloaded some malware that closed your file to be corrupted.
System needs to be rebooted:
Reboot the system so it can go back to a previous saved file that wasn't corrupted.
Go to the file, right-click, go to “Properties, “ then go to the previous version tab to select a previous version of the file. Click “Restore” to reboot the final to a more recent save that still worked, then click ok.
To prevent your files from becoming corrupted during a blackout you should connect the system to a surge protector; if another blackout occurs, it won't damage your system or files.
To protect your system from malware, do not click on links or download files from unknown sites or emails.
Computer won’t boot up
When your Samsung NP550P5C-T01US doesn’t boot up it could mean your RAM
isn’t being detected.
RAM is not seated properly
Making sure the RAM is put on correctly
Windows includes a built-in memory diagnostic tool that you can run, if your system can boot without the RAM you just replaced. If you can’t boot into Windows or you’re running Linux, the MemTest86 tool or MemTest86+ can run pre-boot and isolate problems in the same way.
Also do make sure you hear a click noise when inserting RAM
Keyboard/ Keys not responding
When your Samsung NP550P5C-T01US doesn't respond to what you’re typing, it could be your keyboard or keys.
Dust or debris is blocking keys
Another possibility could be the dust, Dusty keyboard can make the key stuck and that can be frustrating. A good Compressed air can be a solution.
Water or beverage damage
Replace the keyboard, there could be a possibility where you spilled water or any liquid substance on the keyboard and a quick fix would be replacing the keyboard.
Screen Specs/Compatible Screens
This model does use the 40 pin array of screen connector, more common to be seen in older laptop computers, thus replacement screens tend to be expensive for this model, in my experience with this model for both the screen and flat cables when repairing keep to Samsung original parts and, to older models, within the same lineup, and to the thinnest kind of screen available and keep in mind the mounting hardware setup, while always checking sources such as laptopscreen.com to make sure about connector and resolution specs of the part you wish to install.
