Drill Does Not Work When Trigger is Depressed

The drill does not function when the trigger is fully depressed.

Battery is Dead

Make sure the battery is charged and fully inserted into the drill. Make sure the contacts on the battery and in the drill are clean.

To remove the battery follow this guide.

Replacement Battery:

Blocked Trigger Mechanism

Make sure that nothing is preventing the trigger to be fully depressed and making contact with the switch assembly i.e. sawdust, dirt. This can be cleaned by removing the housing and using a dry cloth or pressurized air to remove debris.

Replacement Trigger:

Faulty Wiring for the Motor

If the trigger seems to be functioning, check if the wiring from the switch assembly to the motor is intact and in good condition. If the wiring is not in good condition i.e. the contacts are broken or bare wire is showing, then the wires should be replaced and soldered into place. Be sure that the new wiring follows the same path as the old wiring.

Replacement Motor:

Bit Doesn’t Spin Even Though Motor Can be Heard

If nothing happens when the trigger is fully depressed and the motor is functioning, there may be an issue with the cam shaft and hammer system within the drill.

Broken Cam shaft and hammer assembly

If the motor is working and the bit is not spinning then there may be something preventing the cam shaft and hammer assembly from moving. To fix this, open the housing then check and clear any obstructions.

Direction Doesn’t Change When Direction of Rotation Selector is Toggled

When the direction of rotation selector is being toggled, the direction of which way the drill bit is turning does not change

Broken Direction of Rotation Selector

If the selector is switching between forward and reverse positions but the drill direction is not changing then the plastic components associated with the selector may be broken and need to be replaced. To access the selector and trigger assembly, remove the housing and separate the wiring from the selector and trigger assembly using a soldering iron.

Faulty Wiring for the Trigger

Open the housing and check if the connections and wiring are in good condition. If the wiring is not in good condition i.e. the contacts are broken or bare wire is showing, then the wires should be replaced and soldered into place. Replacement Trigger:

Reduced Power and Torque

If the drill sounds sluggish or ceases to work then the power is being reduced.

Battery is Dying

If the drill is losing power while in use the Battery may need to be charged before further use. If the battery has been charging and still doesn’t work then it may need to be replaced.

Replacement Battery:

Faulty Wiring for the Motor

If the drill is constantly under-powered check the contacts for the switch and motor. Open the housing and check if the connections and wiring are in good condition. If the wiring is not in good condition i.e. the contacts are broken or bare wire is showing, then the wires should be replaced and soldered into place. Be sure that the new wiring follows the same path as the old wiring.

Replacement Motor:

Unusual Sounds or Smells

The drill makes a new and concerning noise or smell.

Faulty Motor

If the drill starts to smell like smoke, stop using the tool and allow it to cool down. If the smell continues after the drill has cooled the motor may be malfunctioning. Open the housing and check if the connections and wiring are in good condition. If the wiring is not in good condition i.e. the contacts are broken or bare wire is showing, then the wires should be replaced and soldered into place. Be sure that the new wiring follows the same path as the old wiring.

Replacement Motor:

Cam Shaft and Hammer Assembly Needs to be Lubricated

If the drill starts making new noises there may be a lubrication issue. Open the housing and apply lubricant to the camshaft and hammer assembly. Do not add excessive lubricant as this can also affect the performance of the drill.

Cracked or Broken Features

The features that accompany this drill break or lose their functionality

Broken/Missing Magnet

If screws or other metal objects are no longer held to the magnetic tray or the tray breaks, the housing will have to be removed and the tray can easily be replaced.

Replacement Magnet:

Worn Out Bit Clip

If the bits no longer stay in the bit clip and fall out the clip may have lost its tension. The housing will have to be opened and the bit clip can easily be replaced.
