Speaker Is Not Turning On
I press the power button and there is no response.
Battery is Not Charged
The device battery might be depleted. If this is the case you will see a red light on the side of your speaker. In order to charge the speaker, connect the speaker to a wall outlet using the cable and adapter it originally came with if available. If original cable and adapter are not available use another set that you have verified can charge a device.
Locked Speaker
Some users have commented that their device issues were solved by conducting a factory reset.
The steps to conducting a factory reset are as follows
- Holding down the power and minus buttons
- Wait for an audible response
- Attempt to turn on your device
Speaker is Not Charging
I plug my device into the wall outlet and allow the proper time for it to charge but the device does not seem to hold any charge.
Charging Cable and Adapter Not Functioning
It is possible that either the cable or adapter being used to charge the device no longer are functioning. Try a different combination of micro USB cable and adapter. Allow the device to charge for some time and attempt to turn on your device.
Dead Battery
A possibility is that the battery is no longer functioning. If this is the case the battery will need to be replaced. Please look at our battery replacement guide to learn how to accomplish this.
There is No Sound Coming From my Speaker
The power light is on but there is no sound coming from the speaker.
Device is not Paired
The speaker will not be able to play music wirelessly unless it is paired to a Bluetooth device. Make sure the speaker is properly paired to your device (see the "Device Pairing" section below).
Speaker Muted
The speaker's volume may be set too low to hear. Press the "volume up" button (large plus) on the side of the speaker until sound can be heard.
Paired Device Muted
If the volume on the connected device is not turned up, no sound will be audible from the speaker. Turn the device's media volume up until sound can be heard.
Auxiliary Cable Not Connected Correctly
The speaker will only work correctly with a 3-pole auxiliary connector (3.5 mm jack with 3 metal rings). A 4-pole auxiliary connector (with an inline microphone cable, or volume controls) may not work correctly with the speaker. Ensure your auxiliary cable is a 3-pole type, and is not damaged.
My Device is Not Pairing to My Speaker
My UE Megaboom will not connect to my phone or controller.
UE Megaboom Not In Pairing Mode
Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button on your speaker until a sound is heard. The pairing button is located near the power button and marked with the Bluetooth symbol and a white dot.
Too Many Devices Are Connected
The UE Megaboom only supports being connected to 2 devices simultaneously, and stores pairing with a total of 8 devices.
Please note that the speaker may automatically connect to devices it has been paired with before, make sure to turn Bluetooth off on devices you are not trying to pair to the speaker.
If more than 8 devices have been paired with the device, you may initiate a factory reset to clear the UE Megaboom's device memory, allowing you to pair your new device.
Too Far Away from Speaker
Pairing can be unreliable if the speaker and device are too far apart from each other. Move device you are trying to pair closer to the speaker, ideally within one or two feet.
Factory Reset
Some users have commented that their device issues were solved by conducting a factory reset on their device.
The steps to conducting a factory reset are as follows
- Holding down the power and minus buttons
- Wait for an audible response
- Attempt to turn on your device
Auxiliary Port Not Functioning
When I plug the cable into the auxiliary port it doesn't seem to work.
Incorrect Cable
The UE Megaboom was designed to be used with a 3-pole (non-microphone or inline remote cable) auxiliary connector.
Do not use a 4-pole (with inline microphone) cable, or you may experience problems with sound.
Plug the 3-pole 3.5mm auxiliary cable into the speaker and check to see that the sound is turned up on both the device and the speaker.
Possible Obstruction
It is possible that an object could be blocking the auxiliary port and preventing it from making an electrical connection with the cable. Make sure there is nothing inside of the port obstructing the connection.
Check your auxiliary cord, the problem may be with that and not the port.
Battery Life is Short
The battery runs out of charge faster than normal.
Use is too Strenuous
The UE Megaboom Speaker is advertised to have a battery life of 20 hours. But actual battery life may vary with use, settings, and environmental conditions. It is possible that the way you are using the speaker is too strenuous and is depleting the battery faster than expected.
Depleted Battery
A possibility is that the battery is no longer functioning. If this is the case the battery will need to be replaced. Please look at our battery replacement guide to learn how to accomplish this.
Battery Monitoring
If you wish to keep track of your charge status press your speaker's 'plus' and 'minus' buttons at the same time. An audio message will play telling you the battery level.
You can change the language of the message from within the settings of the app.

Megaboom will play off the battery as long as I hold my thumb pressing the power button. When I let it go, unit shuts down.
Otherwise will not stay turned on. Plays fine when plugged into the charger.
+- buttons tell me 100 % charged just before shutting off. I s there method of initiating a factory reset whilst on the charger supply?

I had kind of the same problem, it would stay on if I pressed the button a few times in rapid succession after it turned off once by itself. But I plugged in a few different charging cables (mine from Logitech seems to have gone south) until I found one that would fast charge it and let it sit for a while, and it worked great. I have a different problem now, I left it turned off for about 8 hours after I unplugged it at full charge and it's lost 13% battery already

Megaboom will play off the battery as long as I hold my thumb pressing the power button. When I let it go, unit shuts down. Indicating a healthy battery.
Otherwise will not stay turned on. Plays fine when plugged into the charger.
+- buttons inform me of 100 % charge.
Is there a factory reset I can do while plugged into the charger?
Can I “flash" the battery?
