Hisense Chromebook C11 Troubleshooting

This page features some common problems for the Hisense Chromebook C11 and their solutions.

Sound is not working

No sound is heard from speakers.

Extension Malfunction

An extension installed on your Chromebook could be causing the sound to stop working.

Chromecasting

The Chromebook might be trying to Chromecast instead of playing sound directly.

No image from screen

Screen is black or unresponsive.

Is it a Software Problem or a Hardware Problem?

Determine whether the problem stems from the display function or from the laptop’s battery. To test this, connect your laptop to an external monitor. If your computer’s display shows up on this monitor, the problem lies within the screen itself rather than the power source.

Display Malfunction (Software)

The Chrome OS may be missing from your computer or damaged. To rectify this, download the Chrome Recovery Utility app and follow its provided instructions.

Battery Malfunction (Hardware)

Follow these steps to replace your battery.

Cracked Screen

The screen needs to be replaced. Follow these steps to replace the screen.

Battery not charging

I can see no sign of charging, the battery is stuck at 1%, and/or the device is unable to function when unplugged.

Faulty Charger

It is possible that the charger for your device is broken, try to use another charger.

Prolonged Storage

When the Chromebook C11 is stored for a long period of time, it is possible for the batteries to drain past normal levels. In this case, you will need to reset the battery by disconnecting it and reconnecting it.

Bad Battery

The battery may need to be replaced. Follow these steps to replace the battery.

Touchpad won’t work on startup

The touchpad won’t respond to my touch after I turn on the computer

Software is Faulty

It is possible that software settings are responsible. In this case a powerwash or hard reset can fix the issue.

Hardware is Faulty

If a powerwash or factory reset does not fix the touchpad, it may be physically disconnected from the computer. In this case, you will need to take the laptop apart and physically connect it.

Keyboard won’t respond

Some or all keys will not respond when typing.

Is it a Software Problem or a Hardware Problem?

First, perform a hard reset on the computer.  If this doesn’t work, you can try logging in as a guest to see if an extension or app is causing the keyboard not to respond.  If the issue still persists, you likely have a hardware problem.

Software Problem

An app or extension may be causing the keyboard to lose function.

Hardware Problem

The keyboard or connecting wires may need to be replaced.
