Battery will not hold a charge
The laptop reaches a full charge, but the battery life lasts considerably less than 10 hours.
Programs and Peripherals using power
If the Chromebook will not hold a charge, it may be due to an excessive amount of open applications or accessories. Consider shutting down applications that are not being used. Unplug any extra peripherals that use power such as microphones, an external Chromebook mouse, or webcams that will drain your battery over time.
Battery is Old
If the Chromebook battery life drains in much less than 10 hours, the Chromebook may just be outdated. The battery may need to be replaced. To replace a battery, follow this guide.
Keys on keyboard do not register when typing
The keys on keyboard do not respond when pressed.
Faulty Keyboard
If all the keys on the keyboard are not responding, try replacing the entire keyboard following this guide.
Keys Stuck in Place
If specific keys do not respond when pressed, there may be something stuck underneath it. To fix this, remove the key and clean thoroughly underneath the targeted area. Afterwards, reattach the key and click it in place.
Speaker is Quiet and Occasionally Will Not Play
The laptop speakers produce little to no sound.
Sound Volume is Turned Down
Check that the volume is not set on a low setting. The sound volume can be accessed by the two keys with the speaker icons in the upper right corner of the keypad. The left key reduces the volume and the right key increases the volume.
Sound is Accidentally Muted
Check that the sound has not been accidentally muted. Muting can be accessed by the key located at the top and four from the right.
Speaker is Faulty
If the previous steps did not solve the issue, the speaker may be faulty. The speaker may need to be replaced with a new one. Replace the speaker using this guide.
Touchpad Unresponsive
The mouse does not move when dragging a finger across the touchpad.
Software Issues
Try pressing the “esc” button multiple times. If that does not work, drumroll your fingers on the touchpad for 10 seconds. Shut your Chromebook down and restart it. If none of these methods work, you may have a faulty touchpad (see Faulty Touchpad).
Faulty Touchpad
The Chromebook C53N requires the movement of a finger on the touchpad to move the mouse. If the mouse does not move when using the touchpad, then it may need to be replaced. To replace a touchpad, follow this guide:
Computer Will Not Turn On

Faulty Charging Cable

This is a new Asus c523 chromebook and the screen won’t turn on. The light when plugged in is blue or white but it never turns on. Help.

I have a few month old asus c523n laptop and it’s dead and won’t charge with the original charger or the two replacement chargers I’ve purchased this past week. There have been no other issues or any damage done to the laptop. I’m unsure if the battery is the use because, again, it’s a very new laptop.
