If you install a 3rd party SSD you will need to download software to enable the TRIM support. I have been using this program for the last couple of years Trim Enabler. Otherwise totally go with the recommendations in the previous answer. Personally I am more partial to SSD's especially since the prices have only been falling. I highly recommend the Samsung 840 or 850 Pro drives. Dual HD upgrade is the way to go!

Hello. Here are some answers that I hope will help you out. Operating system wise look for a copy of Snow Leopard - 10.6.3 is available Mac OS uses HFS+ formatting with a GUID partition table. The reason you saw a flashing "?" is because there was no compatible OS installed. Windows can ONLY be installed by using BootCamp inside Mac OS. Macs do not use the alt+ctrl+delete shortcut Solutions: Find a copy of Snow Leopard it was the default OS when the laptop was made. Insert the disc and hold "option" when you power on the computer. A boot menu prompt will come up, choose the Disc. Once inside the installer make it through the menus. BEFORE you install the OS go to "Utilities" and select "Disk Utility" Inside "Disk Utility" select the Hard Drive and go to "Partition" Inside Partition set it up to use GUID Partition table and format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Name the drive the default "Macintosh HD" or whatever you want. Then you can proceed to install a fresh copy of Mac OS. Good luck!
