My shutter button still works but doesn’t give feedback. It’s hard to tell when I’ve taken a picture because it doesn’t “click.” I’m wondering if that’s something that can be fixed, but I can’t tell if the mechanism for that feedback is in the mechanical portion above (and maybe a piece of metal broke) or built into the switch soldered on the circuit board.
Looks like the hard drive has a special bracket, would that likely be included if you BTO a model with SSD only?
Looking forward to a teardown of a model with an SSD. I want to know if it will have a SATA connector (For dual booting Mac/Win I would prefer to have dual SSDs inside my iMac. Would rather BTO it with Apple's lightning fast 1 TB SSD and just add a second SATA SSD or HD). Or will something like this OWC kit provide the cable we need? https://eshop.macsales.com/search/IMACHD...
Seriously, iFixit? Complaining about the non-user upgradeable RAM? Who would ever need more than 128k of RAM??
Been awhile since I checked the specs, but I'm pretty sure my TI-89 has more RAM and power than this Mac!
The good news is that if you could take a battery from one of Apple's newer laptops (say, perhaps the last Macbook with a user-replaceable battery), wire it to the Macintosh, and get as much battery life as the laptop. Or perhaps much more since you couldn't actually use the old computer for much.
