I think that there should be a warning about this repair. The first time I did it, though the screen didn't quite fit perfectly everything worked. Eventually that screen ended up cracked and finally nonfunctional. So I replaced it. This time, I did something so that the phone part isn't working. Googling here and on the web makes it clear that it is possible to break off an inductor that causes the problem. There's a fix (http://matteopisani.altervista.org/iPhon...) but that's more skill and requires tools I don't have.
I learned lots, but I don't have a functioning phone. Don't know HOW I did what - that's still not clear.
