In this step, I noticed a small difference between original screen and replacement screen. The original screen had a smal, oddly shaped, transparent plastic piece on the back of the display cable. The replacement display had not. On the second picture of step 1 in this tutorial, you can see that the replacement display shown here does not have this either.
I figured, it might help, keep the cable firmly attached to the phone, since it fills up the space, into which the cable could bend.
It was really easy to peel of from the original cable with the Spudger. The adhesive was not too strong and the bonding surface was really smal, too. But I had to be carefull with the tiny electronic pieces on the cable. I think, the odd shape is because of the small area and those tiny pieces.
On my replacement display, the plastic piece fitted well and since it was still sticky, I just placed it there. You have to be super careful, not to damage those tiny electronic pieces and try not to put the plastic piece on top of one.
Krister Turoy, I think you are wrong. I just removed the screen and there were no screws. Be careful not to mix um Z1 compact and XZ1 compact or something else.
