SIM Card Eject Tool

Mi Problema

My Nexus 4 has had problems shutting off or halting, requiring hard reboot, or just rebooting and getting stuck in a boot loop due to temporary hardware or software issue.

Mi Solucion

Upgraded to a Nexus 5 and used a SIM Card Eject Tool to remove the SIM.

Mi Consejo

The iFixit Sim Eject tool is slightly larger than others I've used, and the pin deformed the Nexus' eject pin opening very slightly. The tool got stuck so that I had to carefully yank it out. I recommend filing the first 5mm of it down a little prior to use.

Mi Problema

Both phones (iPhone 5 and Moto X) had batteries older than 2 years and required frequent charging.

Both phones were relatively easy to repair. Your guides and uTube videos were very helpful. Also other uTube videos not from ifixit were informative as well. Be very careful to check the iPhone power switch cable connector, took me 2 additional disassemblies before I got it right. Both repairs went great, saved a ton of money and did not have to switch phones.

Take your time and don't force anything. Make sure you are getting a new battery. People are selling used batteries on eBay and Amazon.

Glass screen shattered.

Mi Solucion

I started out trying to just replace the shattered glass screen. That turned out to be an exercise in absolute frustration and insanity. On a scale of 1-to-10 it's a 12 on near impossible. I recommend this if you want any good results in the end process. The only solid repair is to replace the glass screen, digitizer and the metal back (heat shield) with the home button flat cable as complete unit. This will assure you of a 100% success in the repair.

The few advice areas I would strongly recommend:

You must be very patient, relaxed, and careful in the pursuit of the repair.

Order the complete repair kit with the repair item. It comes with the tools needed and it helps greatly.

Make sure that you clean the home button thoroughly with the alcohol wipe that comes with the kit before you reinstall it. This is a must do.

Along with your hands, your work area should be clean and organized with little containers for screws and other parts. You wont believe how tiny the screws are.

My teenage daughter broke her cell screen. So after a little bit of research. I found ifixit.com saw the videos and review and decided to take on the challenge.

My battery on my Iphone 5 would constantly die, it would go from 100- 70% within an hour and then it would die almost instantly when it would reach 55%.

The hardest part was taking the battery out of the phone. It is really glued in there. With alot of patience it will come out. The new battery is working great. My phone lasts the whole day without needing to be constantly recharged.

I wouldnt say that this is the easiest of repairs due to the tight space and the strong glue used by apple. As long as you take your time you will be able to do the repair.

Original phone battery needed to be recharged 3-4 times a day.

Following the video tutorial the process for removal and replace is straightforward. 20-25 minutes to complete job.

Small screws like to take flight during removal if your not careful. A large sheet of white paper as your work surface will help locate small parts if they stray. Also used a large kitchen magnet to secure screws once they had been removed. Be patient when opening the phone cover. Use the pry tool to gently work any small gap you can create when pulling with the suction tool.
