The right fan of my trusty MBP 17" late 2007 did all at once an incredible noise that it was impossible to work. All activities especially applications using the graphic card raised the temperature and thus the noise. For diagnosis I went to my local reseller who told me that this MPB is a vintage . . .

Noisy fan and disassembling and lubricating did not fix it.

Mi Solucion

This was an easy repair to do but the new fan was noisy so I pulled the computer apart a second time, disassembled the fan itself, cleaned it as best I could, then reassembled fan and computer and now it is quiet and works well.

I used a couple of glasses to separate the screws. They are small so Torx and Philips are tough to discern

old fan was noisy and possibly in danger of quitting

Perfect-- took about half hour-- most time consuming part was all the little screws in the computer body. One small glitch was I did not have any fresh circuit board tape.

Don't know if your repair kit includes that yellow tape but it might be an . . .

my 17" late 2006 MacBook Pro was making an incredibly loud and angry sound. some basic diagnosis with compressed air revealed the problem to orginiate with the right fan. iFixit had the best part at the best price, and I love the screwdriver kit

It went perfect, easy with Ifixit guidance, changed left fan in same operation + cleaned both cooling grills, both fans been running since 2007, a lot of hours and Rpms since 2007
