Mi Problema
Was just doing a PS3 mandatory upgrade. Most likely to just fix some policy thing that I would have to agree to in order to use the equipment I bought two years ago. During the reboot it just blanked out and then would flash quickly and go to the YLOD.
Mi Solución
We had 3 PS3s at Hive13 that had this issue. We invested in one YLOD kit which had just enough thermal paste to fix all three. It took a long time to disassemble and reassemble but we were really taking our time and talking during the process. I was surprised how well this fix works. So simple and saves SO much money!
Mi Consejo
This fix only takes time. The cost is very low and you can fix more than one at a time. We organized an event at our local hackerspace and plan on doing it again for Xbox in a few weeks. If you can do it with friends it is much better. The inside of the PS3 maybe much different than the ifit doc. Just go layer by layer and we use painters tape to tape each layers screw to the part we removed. Makes keeping track of all the screws very easy.
