Our iPod 5th generation (video) decided to jump into the hot tub; which blew its mind!

I couldn't detect any water inside the unit, and hoped it was just an overloaded soggy battery. Cheap and easy enough to fix. I followed all the directions in the guide for replacing the battery. It was much easier to take apart than put back together. I seriously was wishing for a third hand to attach the keypad cable to the board. Unfortunately, even it all got back together it still didn't work. We got power back okay, but the logic board must have also gotten blown, because it was unhappy macs and exclamation points. Well worth the shot, though....and a good learning experience.

I found that guitar picks of various thicknesses work GREAT for removing the cover.
