Mi Problema
I knew that for the money I would spend to have the unit serviced I might as well purchase a new one. In addition, I am an electrical engineer and it would be embarrasing to tell my friends my PS3 broke and i had to throw it in the trash because I did not know what to do.
Mi SoluciĆ³n
Repair was successful. The problem I had was that the components shown in the instructions did not match the ones in my unit. My PS3 must have been a newer (or older) model. I realized this as soon as I could see the internal components. At that point, I decided to "wing it" and proceeded to remove screws and components. Even the motherboard was different but the main chips were similar. I was able to repair the chips and put everything back together. I did not have one screw left over! My son was exstatic!
Mi Consejo
Allow plenty time to perform this. There are a lot of screws and it is not easy to figure out which screws are the ones retaining the component you want to remove. It is like one huge sandwich with multiple layers.
