Very difficult

Mi Problema

Wife's 80GB iPod Classic would not hold a charge.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

The iPod was very hard to open. I scratched up the sides a bit but once I got it open it was very easy to replace the battery and close the iPod back up. The iPod fired right up and all is well except the hold switch no longer works. Thankfully it is stuck in the open position. When I get time I'm going to open the iPod up again and see if I can fix it. Hopefully it is something simple.

Mi Consejo

It was very hard to open the iPod. The two plastic tools included with the battery were just about useless. I used a thin putty knife to separate the two halves and a couple of small flat blade screwdrivers (eyeglass screw sized) as a space keepers. I started by trying to work the putty knife into the side of the iPod but all I did was scratch up the sides. I was able to get a foot-hold by gently working the putty knife into the lower case just above the dock connector. Using the screwdrivers as space keepers I worked my way towards a corner and up one of the sides. After that the rest of the operation went smoothly.
