iPad 2 Wi-Fi Power/Mute/Volume Buttons Cable Replacement

Very difficult

Mi Problema

Okay, so I was tasked to repair a customer's iPad 2 screen. Where the glass was broken, it had almost completely severed the power/lock/volume ribbon cable.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

The tricky part with iPad 2 screens is getting off the broken glass without damaging the WiFi antenna or other tiny components. The power/lock/volume ribbon cable is VERY fragile and has to make a lot of strange twists and turns.

Mi Consejo

I would recommend leaving the adhesive covers on for each section on this cable. Only remove the small bits as you need to and test before adhering the cables to the chassis. The power button can be very tricky to get back in if the angle is wrong. You may want to put some scotch tape on the outside of the chassis to hold the power button, lock switch and volume rocker switches in place.
