I purchased an 8GB RAM upgrade for my 2009 MacBook Pro because it was running much slower with the new OS.

The screwdriver and spudger allowed me to remove the case and install the RAM easily and without any problems.
Mi Consejo
These tools are right for the job and don't cost much. Get them.
