Mi Problema

In my mid-2009 MBP's greatest attempts to just curl into a ball and die, the broken trackpad has got to be the most annoying problem I've had to deal with. In truth, this was the longest-lasting problem I've had to deal with as well, as it's been broken since just a few months after I bought the machine brand new over three years ago. It was easy enough to work around with the MBP's native touch controls, and I really only needed the ability to click and hold when I was resizing windows or playing Minecraft. Well, about two months back, my Chrome window spontaneously resized itself to the lowest possible setting. The maximize button at least gave me a screen to look at, but I couldn't "do" anything, and I'm on the verge of leaping into a Photoshop-intensive project. After three years of poor functioning clicks, it was time to bite the bullet and give myself a new trackpad.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

The repair was great. Including the time it took me to excitedly tear open the packaging from the post office and separate all of my shiny new bits and pieces, I was in and out of the Macbook within a half hour. The trackpad's own connecting cable was suppose to be a royal B**** to work with, but I had it under control with my handy dandy iFixit spudger. Also, this repair showed me that I installed my most recent battery slightly off alignement and destroyed one of its screw brackets. Yay!

Mi Consejo

Just stick to the guide on this one. It's wonderfully detailed and tells you exactly what you need to do to fix it.
