First time working on computer hardware
Mac wasn't showing hard drive. Wouldn't boot. I thought my hard drive was dead.
I first took the HD out of computer and hooked it up to my imac with a cheap adapter cable kit. Everything worked fine with HD, so I copied some important files and photos to the imac, just incase.
I then ordered the new HD cable for the Mac Book Pro, hoping that was all that was wrong. Install was very easy. It actually takes longer to unscrew/screw the tiny screws on the bottom of the computer case then to do the repair. It fixed the issue with no data lost. Repair/test cost about $70 total.
Don't listen to your wife when she says " the computers dead, why didn't we just get a Dell". I am a little !#^&@@ at apple though. I paid a premium for this laptop and shouldn't have had to fix little crappy cables.
