Mi Problema
Volume control was only available with headphones. Otherwise, pushing the volume buttons would not do anything. In fact, the software volume control was not available in iTunes either. Tried cleaning the dock connector with a toothbrush and contact cleaner. This did not eliminate the problem. Only replacing the dock connector fixed the issue.
Mi Solución
This was my first repair on an iPhone. I was extremely patient and carefully followed the directions and video. The Pro Tech Toolkit was essential. I have many tools in my kit for these types of repairs but the range of metal spudgers and screw bits were really helpful. The battery was the hardest to remove. Be patient, the glue is strong.

Pay attention is every step. This repair was easier that previous ipod repairs. The only thing that the directions missed (I think) was about putting in the new part. The ribbon has three areas for adhesive. The part is shipped with plastic covers that you need to peal off before installing the part.
