Mi Problema

OK- don't do this! My Macbook Pro 15" was running warm, so I decided to blow out the exhaust ports with compressed air. I used my compressor with approx. 40 pounds pressure, and sure enough blew out the dust, but also blew all the splines off both the right and left exhaust fans inside the laptop. Once turned on, the temperature kept rising and rising, and I knew I was in trouble.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

I stumbled upon ifixit.com after an exhaustive search for the right procedure and exact OEM replacement parts. I called Apple "Do-it-yourself" department, and they could not sell me these two replacement fans, but would gladly fix the problem for $600-700.

This site, ifixit.com, not only shows exact videos of how to remove/replace the fans, but it was SO EASY to order the exact OEM replacement fans. I got the right hardware the next day (overnight shipping), installed as per the video instructions, and have my $2000 laptop as good as new for about a hundred bucks ($49.00 per fan, left and right).

AMAZING~ Thank You!

Mi Consejo

1. Be really careful blowing out the dust from the rear exhaust ports on Apple laptops.

2. Buy Applecare at time of purchase to cover the major expenses incurred outside of warranty.

3. Use ifixit.com for your diagnostics and repair needs.

Stellar Job!!!!
