Mi SoluciĆ³n

The repair went extremely well with a couple of minor issues. Actually easier than the guide would suggest for my mid-2009 15 inch Unibody MacBook Pro. First of all using the upgrade kit and SuperDuper was fantastic. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Watch the YouTube video. MJ is nerdy hot as a bonus.

Mi Consejo

Issues: The replacement guide indicates you need to remove the battery and need to use a 5 point star style driver that isn't provided in the upgrade kit. Should probably provide this screwdriver.

Guide then suggests using a straight blade screwdriver (wedged into the screw). Ghetto. Don't do it. Good way to ruin a screw and driver. I don't know if this applies to all similar machines, but I saw no physical reason to remove the battery. Ignored that step and just replaced the drive with no issues whatsoever. If there is another reason to remove the battery (i.e. I am going to fry something if I don't) it should probably be explained in the guide. I am relatively handy, but I found this replacement easier than anticipated.
