Our 4th gen. iPod is almost literally just that, handed UP from younger generation to us, the non- tech savvy grandparents. When the original battery of this 2004 magical music machine died, it took the audacity of a teenager to encourage us to tear it apart and fixit!

So, armed with an unused fixit coupon (magic enticement for our generation), the easy visual guides from the fixit folks and the attitude of "if he could, we could!", it worked!

When the iPod started dying, we thought that our only recourse was to try to salvage the amazing 40 gb playlist. Changing the battery turned out to be easier, cheaper($15!) and so empowering.
