Difficult

Mi Problema

Like many others, the power button on my wife's iPhone 4 just stopped working. I tried a fix on YouTube that involved folding up a piece of paper and using it to put pressure on the power button. Surprisingly, the paper trick worked but only for a day or so. So, I went straight to iFixit to order a new power cable!

Mi SoluciĆ³n

The repair was INSANE! I've been working on electronics for many years and I would say that this is the second most difficult that I have performed. The first being a screen replacement on a 3rd generation iPod touch (the one where the screen and case are held together with copious amounts of glue).

I'll be honest, there are cheaper places to get parts but the parts they sell at iFixit are of higher quality than most other retailers. I'm not sure if all of their parts are, but the one I received was an Apple OEM part. Save yourself a lot of time and headache by buying the part from iFixit so you can support their endeavors and guarantee that you will receive a quality replacement. The last thing I wanted was to spend two hours replacing the cable just to find out that it doesn't work. That's why I bought from iFixit.

Mi Consejo

The iFixit guide was a great help and the high resolution pictures showed me exactly where all the tiny screws were located. It is by far the best guide on the internet.

I recommend placing all the screws on a white piece of paper and labeling them by size. There were at least eight different sizes for my repair so it's a lot to keep track of. When it comes back in stock, I'll be picking up the magnetic repair mat that iFixit sells.

Thank you iFixit!
