Mi Problema

A faulty power supply damaged the power in my MacBook air. The MBA was no longer charging with any power supply! A bit of online searching revealed that the MBA has a separate IO sub board, and there was a chance that it was broken and not the whole motherboard.

I used the last of the battery charge to update my backups, then closed the computer down on 19% battery.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

After ordering a replacement I/O board, late on Friday night local time here in Australia, a replacement and tools were dispatched from California, and arrived by Tuesday afternoon! I love the magnetic project mat BTW, awesome.

I set up with a bright light, static an magnetic mats and all the tools, with my iPad on the iFixit repair guide...

The repair was straightforward, and completely successful. Closed back up in 30 minutes and had the mac charging!

Mi Consejo

Actually this is a pretty simple operation, nothing really stands out, except that the spudger is an awesome tool, everyone should have one. I did notice one thing while closing up, making sure the headphone jack lines up the the case hole *before* tightening the retaining screw, and I was able to add a note to the guide.
