Mi Problema
The original Mac Mini hard drive is 5400 RPM and slow. Boot up and file access times are longer than they should be.
Mi Solución
I use the iFixit second hard drive install kit to add a 2nd faster HD to a Mac mini. I installed a 750 Gig, 7200 RPM Seagate HD. The iFixit kit, with the drive harness and tool set worked very well. The installation went well, and the speed improvement was quite noticeable. This upgrade is well worth the effort.
Mi Consejo
Take time to keep track of where each screw goes. Take care not to damage any of the surface mount components on the logic board during the disassemble and re-assembly. The power supply and original HD have support pins that engage holes in the inside front face of the mini's case. Be-sure to get this parts installed correctly. These pins are in a hidden area, and you have to reinstall these parts by "feel". Also take care with removing and reinstalling the antenna plate. Be sure to double check and make sure all connectors are reseated correctly before final close up and turn on.
