The display on my wife's MacBook would go dark, but it would come back on if you tilted the screen forward. She talked to the Apple Store and they wanted $200 dollars to fix it. I think they were planning to replace the LCD.

The installation guide is superb. The job was actually a lot easier than I expected due to the clarity and detail of the guide.
Mi Consejo
Keep track of your screws. There are a lot of tiny screws that vary ever so slightly in size. When you take one out, arrange it so that you can be sure you put it back in the same place.
Pay attention to the order of the steps and the placement of the cables when you put it back together. When I put it back together the first time, I placed the display cable on top of the speaker and microphone cables. This placement resulted in a bad connection. When I turned on the machine, all I saw was a blank gray screen. After taking it apart again and paying more attention to the guide, I quickly discovered my error.
