I actually bought these metal spudgers to open up some xbox360's but a coworker asked me to see if we could repair his ps3 because it had the ylod.
Mi Solución
the guide from ifixit showed me what to do. After the repairs were done I was nervous because I did not know if it worked, so I slept on it, fired it up the next day and it worked except the blu ray player did not work, disassemled that, cleaned the lens and restored that PS3 to total working order.

One thing that was really handy is to have a computer set up on your workbench to follow the steps makes it really easy. good luck to all in your repairs
