Battery didn't hold charge

Very well -- the iPod works very well with the new battery (I haven't confirmed the supposed additional capacity). The plastic take-apart tools were a great help. The only problem was pulling the old battery out of the case -- Apple used some fairly sticky adhesive and I needed a fair amount of force and the help of the tools to pry the battery out. Glad I didn't break anything.

Mi Consejo

Be careful in prying out the old battery to avoid damage to adjacent parts. Perhaps pulling very hard by the wires is the best and safest policy.
