The pressure sensitive power and volume buttons were no longer functioning properly.
Mi Solución
Using the iFixit toolkit enabled me to quickly disassemble the Galaxy tab, locate the problem component and replace it.
Mi Consejo
Opening the Galaxy tab is a chore in itself. Patiently, you must start at the lower end, to the left of the power connector (looking at the unit as you would use it). Using the plastic pry tools, guitar picks (as recommended in a how to manual), and a metal wedge or two, you slowly lift the screen from the back housing (it is extremely snug). Once a sufficient amount of the screen is free from the housing, the unit will easily come apart for your perusement.
