Mi Problema
The home button on my iPhone 4 had not worked properly for some time and I got to the point where the phone could hardly be used. Since the phone was out of warranty I decided to see if I could repair it myself. Once I came across iFixit, I took the plunge.

I never opened up any of my phones and I was not particularly keen on starting with an iPhone. However, I felt good about it once I saw the step by step guide on iFixit. Everything seemed to be pretty easy so what could go wrong? Well, I managed to go through the repair with a lot of sweating and some holding my breath. Nothing really went wrong. It just took longer than expected also because I am not an expert in dealing with small electronic components and I took my time to ensure everything was ok. I was pleasantly surprised to see how all the notes in the guide were relevant and helped me through the process. I was very happy when my iPhone actually powered up after the repair was completed and I am enjoying a fully functional home button now.

Take your time and make sure you understand what every single bit of advice refers too. I kind of overlooked one of the notes and, sure enough, what I was being warned for actually happened. That is when I sort of panicked and I started to picture myself going to an Apple Store with a broken phone in my hands... Once I managed to put back on the attachment I though was lost, the rest of the procedure was pretty simple, although time consuming. Kudos to iFixit for the excellent guide and for giving me the possibility to repair the phone at a fraction of the cost I would have incurred had I gone through official channels.
