Mi Problema

My early 2009 24" iMac was getting sluggish, so I decided to install an SSD disk for system and apps in place of the DVD drive (superdrive) to speed thinghs up.

Mi Solución

I chose Samsung 830 256GB drive, bought the adapter on eBay, tools (54 Bit Driver Kit) and guides from iFixit. Went smoothly, easier than I thought, took about an hour to complete the hardware part. I then installed Mountain Lion fresh on the SSD, copied the data and installed the apps. What a difference, my iMac is now lightning fast. I recommend this to anyone wanting to speed up their computer.

The 54 Bit Driver Kit is great (all you need to dissasemble and reassemble an iMac), not only for computer repair, but other things as well. A week ago, my son broke his Thomas&Friends Trackmaster engine and I needed a triangle shaped driver to take it apart. Naturally, it is one of the 54 Drivers in the Kit and it saved my day. Great kit!
