Difficult

Mi Problema

The LCD on my brothers MacBook cracked after he kept slamming it shut. I'm not sure what he was so angry about, but it's not exactly the smartest move- you really need to caress these things.

Mi SoluciĆ³n

It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to take apart and put back together. I was nervous at first to take the computer apart, but the instructions were unbelievably clear (thanks ifixit). I used post-it notes with the step number written on them to keep the screws organized; it worked really well for me. I followed the instructions backwards to put it all back together, which I thought was going to be a pain in the ass but turned out to be just as easy as taking it apart. I did have one problem, I stripped one screw in the battery compartment by mistake; there wasn't enough room to get the screw back. I think that was step 3 or 4- I'm going to need to use pliers to unscrew it if I ever need to.

Mi Consejo

Follow the instructions, they know what they're talking about. Be patient and gentle, these things aren't exactly indestructible. Clear your schedule: I found that not having anything else on "my plate", so to speak" really helped me not freak out when things took more than 30 seconds.

I got the Matte screen, which was a great choice considering windows exist. I would use ifixit again.
