I'm out here in the backwoods of Alaska taking care of a helicopter used for fighting forest fires. while on some down time i was perusing the internet when I accidentally spilled a drink on my computer. after wiping it down, the track pad started doing things all by itself. it was too the point that it made the computer almost unusable. I brought my computer out to my tool bag and proceeded to take the computer apart piece by piece. unfortunately I didn't have the correct tools so I took a small but not small enough screwdriver and filed it down small enough to fit. I figured out how to take the track pad out eventually and cleaned up everything I saw. once I got it back together, I noticed that the track pad was not acting funny anymore. I guess I was able to partially fix it just by wiping it down from the inside. it still wasn't quite right though. it would take a lot of pressure to get it to respond to the click. I ordered a new one from ifixit.com along with a tool kit. I placed the order on a saturday and by the end of the following wednesday, I had my new track pad installed. everything went smooth and it seems to work just like it used to again.

buy the tool kit. it's only 25 bucks. I used more out of it than I thought I would.
