After pulling my phone out of my pocket one day it wouldn't turn on. I plugged into a charger and while it was plugged in it would try to start to power up. I could see the apple symbol but after a few seconds it would disappear in a faded distorted fashion. So I suspected the battery but wanted to make sure.
I tried to upgrade the software but kept getting different error codes. Till finally one indicated the battery was toast.
The repair was pretty straight forward.
But I did however have some issues. One I still have.
At first for some reason the WiFi connection was very weak. After playing around with settings turning on and off again nothing helped and I was about to take it apart again. Slept on it and the next morning it was working just fine?
The next day I got a call from my wife but couldn't hear her unless I was on speaker phone. I still haven't figured that one out yet. So I'm going to take it apart again this weekend and redo the connections to the screen and see if that will make any difference.
It's a pity that one has to go to such great lengths for a simple battery replacement. I'm a bit irritated with apple about the design. Most people would be forced to go to the apple store and get raped by apple again over a phone.
If you already have an Iphone then use ifixit.com to guide you through it or buy a different phone. Iphones are nice. Don't get me wrong. But to have something that is as prone to failure as the battery be such a pain in the ass to replace is a marketing design feature that will eventually backfire. I know this is my last one until a design change will allow better & easier access to the battery. Come on Apple! One has to almost completely disassemble this thing. Thank god for ifixit.com or I would have been completely lost.
