Mi Problema
Old HDD was on it's way out. 5 years of goodness, though.
Mi SoluciĆ³n
Perfect. I followed an iFixit tutorial and it went as stated, even at 2am on Saturday morning after a long night of drinking.
Problems? Only with the thermaltake 3.5 to 2.5 adapter. The leatherman was key to bending the adapter in to shape. Is it bad? Nope. I'm sure half of the adapters on the market are plastic and won't bend. It's no biggie- just don't be shocked when you get there. Apple made their cables *just* the right length, so most adapters are prolly just slightly out of range.
Mi Consejo
As with any computer repair:
1. Work slowly and attentively.
2. Ground (not to be confused with shock) yourself.
3. It's no lie. The screen will be dirty.
Oh- I hope you have your install DVDs. Apple has gotten schiesty about their optical media.
